Designer. Maker. Artist. Librarian.
Designer, Maker, & Artist.
Dyslexic Librarian (MA, MCLIP).
Literacy advocate.
Professional book botherer and hoarder.
Life long nerd and always a little spooky.
Lou worked for 8 years as a freelance costume and theatre designer - designing and making costumes, props and sets for theatre, opera and independent TV and film. She has worked with pottery studios, given talks about portfolio development, and is a keen photographer. Whilst Lou is no longer making costumes for others, she regularly makes new outfits for herself to attend book events and conventions, and she creates a new Regency outfit for the Jane Austen Festival in Bath each year.
Lou then went on to work in libraries and discovered a new passion for books, literacy, and reading. Despite being dyslexic, Lou went on to gain a Masters in Library and Information Studies and March 2023 was awarded her Chartership. Lou is specialist in reader development, community outreach and engagement, and working with children, families, and young people. Lou is passionate about literacy and for everyone to have access to free books and public libraries. She’s also keenly interested in censorship and the impacts censorship and book banning has on literature, education and society.
Lou has a personal library of over 800 books, yes, she knows she has a problem and is hoarding books.
This website is a record of her adventures and creations and a place for future works to be seen.
