Blue Bird
‘The Bluebird’ is a beautiful and enchanting fairy-tale that tells the story of one child’s Christmas search for The Bluebird of Happiness. Through a journey that spans the Lands of Memory, the Palaces of Night and Luxury, and the Kingdom of the Future, we find excitement, adventure, new friends, old enemies and perhaps the answer to the greatest question of all: what is the secret of true happiness? This delightful and enthralling Christmas show for all the family is a modern adaptation of Maurice Maeterlinck’s Nobel-Prize winning play ‘The Blue Bird’, which thrilled audiences just over a hundred years ago.
The script is adapted by local playwright Alison Farina, who is an alumnus of the Rondo’s own scriptwriting group and has had several of her plays produced at the theatre, as well as touring them with her company, Butterfly Psyche. As a testament to Alison’s talent and the quality of her writing, ‘The Bluebird’ was selected to receive funding from the Arts Council.
